How to Make Espresso with an Espresso Machine

Preheat Your Machine

Ensure your espresso machine is preheated at least 30 minutes before brewing.

Remove the Portafilter

Remove the portafilter from the espresso machine and briefly flush the group head with water to remove any residual coffee grounds and oils.

Grind Your Coffee

Place the portafilter on a scale and tare it. Grind your coffee to an extra-fine espresso grind directly into the portafilter, stopping when the scale reads 20 g.

Level and Tamp the Grounds

Evenly distribute and level the coffee grounds, then press down firmly with the tamper to create a flat, compact coffee bed.

Lock In and Brew

Insert the portafilter into the group head and lock it securely. Start brewing immediately and stop when you reach your desired espresso yield.

Extract and Connect

Allow the espresso to finish extracting, then serve immediately and create connections.
